INTRODUCTION TO HUMANITARIAN DESIGN

Can design be a part of the solution as much as it is a part of the problem?

The word humanitarian is by dictionary defined as One who is devoted to the promotion of human welfare and the advancement of social reforms; a philanthropist.” (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/humanitarian )

In an attempt to explore the possibilities offered by the discipline, we’ll talk about its potential social, political and ethical implications, and have a look at different projects that address such issues.

From poetic conceptual ideas to very practical, problem-solving ones, and from institutional ventures to small-scale DIY ones, we’ll discuss why these projects are necessary and whether they are appropriate and meaningful.
